He gives me a link to a source that says the most common form of male genital mutilation is the removal of the foreskin, but none for what the most common form is for females. And yet he tries to compare apples to oranges, saying that this form of mutilation is WORSE than the full removal of the clitoris.

Sorry, but neither is worse than the other. Both are purely cosmetic procedures preformed on non-consenting individuals without anesthetic with primitive tools. (With the exception of male infant circumcisions preformed in a medical setting)
They’re not really apples an oranges. Both are fucked up, and neither should be performed on infants or other non-consenting individuals.
Yeah, I don’t think you realize what is done to girls when it comes to certain types of female genital mutilation. Plus, you said yourself that female genital mutilation is typically done outside of a medical setting.
Both are horrific things and need to stop, but to say they’re equal is… just, no.
I do realize what happens. I know what both of them are, I know the types of male and female GM.
But, the majority of harsher versions of MGM also happen outside of medical settings. There are equal extremes of both MGM and FGM.
Comparing FGM involving removing the labia, clitoris and sewing the vagina shut to MGM removing the foreskin is apples and oranges. However, comparing FGM clitoridectomy to MGM circumcision is kind of reasonable, because they both include removal of natural sexual organs that have no reason the be removed and are both excruciatingly painful. So is comparing other variations of FGM and MGM that equal each other in severity.
I’m just saying we need to stop arguing about which is worse (because both have equally severe types), ignore the MRAs saying “WHAT ABOUT MGM?!” And just put a stop to both, because both are equally fucked up, both have equal gradients of fucked-up-ness.
