You mean the exact same thing that a foreskin is? It serves the same function as the clitoral hood on a vulva, except it’s about 7 square inches of skin rather than one or two. It has endless amounts of nerve endings, it is a fold of skin to protect the glans of the penis. It’s flesh, nerve endings, and folds of skin.
This isn’t a competition about which one is worse than the other. This isn’t about which one is more painful, or more unacceptable. This is about protecting the bodies of infants that undergo needles surgeries. Both FGM and RIC are purely cosmetic procedures done on individuals entirely unable of giving consent, or against their consent.

I believe that it is literally impossible and cognitively dissonant to consider oneself a feminist and still think that circumcision is okay. Circumcision is a way of telling males, from birth, that they are expected to be tougher than females and should be able to put up with more pain, even if it includes mutilation. Furthermore, it tells them that their pain is irrelevant and women in every way, down to their genitalia, are more delicate and important than they are. Girls are protected by law from all forms of genital mutilation, but we tell our boys they won’t be protected and might even be put in harms way, just because we feel like it. Equal rights are just that, equivalent, not surpassing. Baby boys every where should have the right to whole and happy genitalia. It’s not just archaic, it’s disturbing, sexist and totally wrong.

However, comparing FGM clitoridectomy to MGM circumcision is kind of reasonable, because they both include removal of natural sexual organs that have no reason the be removed and are both excruciatingly painful. So is comparing other variations of FGM and MGM that equal each other in severity.
I’m just saying we need to stop arguing about which is worse (because both have equally severe types), ignore the MRAs saying “WHAT ABOUT MGM?!” And just put a stop to both, because both are equally fucked up, both have equal gradients of fucked-up-ness.
